Four Steps to Keeping Combination Skin Hydrated with Elemis Skincare

Picture of Elemis Skincare products
Elemis products are by far my favourite when it comes to skincare - not only do they work really well with my skin, it feels to me like a little luxurious spa experience on a daily basis. While it's definitely not a necessity, my personal preference is to spend a little more on a quality, high end brand when I'm purchasing skincare products. There are currently four steps (and one optional extra) in my routine that allow me to keep my combination skin hydrated:

Step One: Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator

This product is an exfoliator with a soothing gel formula containing tiny pink Jojoba beads to gently remove dead skin cells. It's recommended use is once a week, however, I find this so gentle that I tend to use it every 2-3 days to keep my skin refreshed and smooth. It's brilliant for sensitive skin; the gel and exfoliator combination has soothing qualities and works well together to ensure that the product doesn't feel harsh on the skin or leave it feeling dry after use.

How to apply: dampen the skin with warm water and gently massage a small amount of product into your face and neck. Remove with warm cloth.

Step Two: Elemis Rehydrating Rosepetal Cleanser

The Rehydrating Rosepetal Cleanser is quite a lifesaver when it comes to reviving dehydrated skin. I've been using this every day for at least 4 months and I absolutely adore it - it's really helped to brighten my dull skin and nourish my dry patches while balancing my oily areas too. Ingredients include Rosepetal Flower Water and Vitamin E to nourish and hydrate the skin. I've also found that this cleanser has had a calming effect when I'm suffering with breakouts. The consistency is light and almost feels like a moisturiser but it doesn't leave any residue once it's removed. I'd recommend using eye makeup remover prior to applying this cleanser as it doesn't seem to work too well in removing stubborn mascara.

How to apply: massage into the skin using circular motions then remove using a damp cotton pad or warm face cloth.

Step Three: Elemis Hydra-Boost Day Cream

The Hydra-Boost Day Cream is now my staple every day moisturiser - I've never found a cream moisturiser that works so well for my combination skin. It's packed full of anti-oxidants and Hyrauluonic Acid to promote moisture and it leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and supple. It balances my oily areas and hydrates my dry patches which is something I generally struggle with as most moisturisers either do one or the other. It's a light  liquid cream that absorbs quickly and creates a beautiful base for your makeup. I'm at the stage with this product where I'm squeezing every last drop from the tube so I definitely need to repurchase very shortly.

How to apply: warm a small amount of cream between your fingers and apply evenly over dry/cleansed face using your fingertips.

Step Four: Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules

I think I hate myself a little bit at how much I love the Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules, I really didn't want to as they come in at an eye-watering £66.00, however, they really are gorgeous pods of goodness. The list of qualities is endless from ridding your skin of toxins, absorbing nutrients, creating a barrier against the stresses that daily life impose on your skin and slowing down the signs of ageing. The pink capsules (Rose) are recommended as part of your morning skincare routine and the green ones (Lavender) at night - they both contain Moringa Oil that works to combat the ageing process and protect the skin from daily pollution. After several months of using them (I use once a week, not daily), my skin is noticeably brighter, more hydrated and nourished after using these capsules.

How to apply: gently twist to remove the cap, warm oil between your hands and gently massage into your face and neck.

Optional Extra Step: Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask

I always apply the Herbal Lavender Repair Mask as an extra treat for my skin on a weekly basis. If you're a Lavender hater, fear not, I am too and the scent is not overpowering in the slightest. The product contains Rosemary and Thyme Essential Oils - it's wonderful for sensitive skin and helps to deep cleanse congested pores. My skin always feels so nourished and clean after using this luxurious mask.

How to apply: directly on to dry skin, leave on for 10-15 minutes and remove with warm water.

Let me know in the comments if you've tried any of these products or if you have any other Elemis skincare recommendations for combination skin.

  1. I love using same line of products for skin care if I can. It feels like all of those will complement each other really well and like I'm not putting on a tone of different stuff.
you actually wrote a review of each products and how to use. nice!
